MEET OUR INTERN: ERIC GARCIA!

Meet the newest member of the Fresh Meat Productions family: our amazing Intern Eric Garcia! Eric is a talented dance artist from USF who is working with us all year on an Internship — working on everything from production to outreach. He is a multi-talent! Here’s a little more about him:

Originally from San Jose, Eric found his way into the SF dance scene in 2008 as a Performing Arts and Social Justice student at the University of San Francisco. Since his grand debut, he has had the pleasure to perform works by Amie Dowling, Katie Faulkner, Natalie Greene, Kelly Kemp, and Eli Nelson. He is the Co-Artistic Director of detour dance, teaches beginning modern at Avenue Dance Studio, and is the current intern with Dancers’ Group. Eric officially started detour dance in 2010, but has been presenting works prior to the creation of a company name since 2009 at venues including the University of San Francisco, Stanford University, San Francisco State University, and CounterPULSE. This fall, he will also present work at Dance Mission Theater as part of Harvest, Cowell Theater as part of the WestWAVE Dance Festival, the Barbary Coast Film Festival, Benjamin Franklin Middle School, and sharing an evening with kelly kemp & company at The Garage. Recently, he co-directed/choreographed Drift, a dance film that explores hitchhiking through deserted farmland. He is always looking for ways to create novel work through finding quirk in the mundane; his curiosity in dissecting everyday interactions is the catalyst for his peculiar choreography.
