Queer cowboys, unorthodox ballet, a butch-femme pas de deux, and pounding athleticism en pointe collide in Migrations, two nights of new dance by two radically different choreographers. Both are recognized for their pioneering roles in their fields, and both have been praised for their bold departures from convention.
Sean Dorsey is carving new space for queer and transgendered bodies in modern dance. Articulate and fierce, Dorsey’s work wrestles with our invented ways of seeing, naming, and gendering. Amy Seiwert is making ballet history — as a female choreographer, as an independent artist, and as an award-winning innovator.
