queer cultural workers this year!
We invited BIPOC trans/queer artists to create & share new work by awarding 6 national FRESH WORKS! Commissions!
We presented our 23rd annual FRESH MEAT FESTIVAL of trans & queer performance featuring more than 20 trans, gender-nonconforming and queer artists!
WE CREATE CHANGE ACROSS THE NATION (and beyond!)
- This year, Sean Dorsey Dance celebrated its 20th Anniversary Season with a year full of performances, workshops, films, speaking engagements and activism … bringing our award-winning artistry and our advocacy to communities across the US and 9 countries around the world!
- We awarded community-nominated TRANSfutures Commission grants to 20 transgender/gender-nonconforming BIPOC artists across the US – including places that are hotbeds of anti-transgender legislation and attacks.
At Sean Dorsey Dance’s 20th Anniversary Home Season in San Francisco, for the first time in Sean Dorsey Dance’s history, the company revisited and performed excerpts of audiences favorites from the last 20 years.
We continued our national ADVOCACY for Intersectional Trans justice in the performing arts!
