Sean Dorsey Dance wins Trans-Video Filmmaker Award

Sean Dorsey Dance’s dance film “SEEK/AFTER” was awarded the TRANS-VIDEO FILMMAKER AWARD at the 2022 Louisiana LGBT+ Film Festival!

Sean Dorsey choreographed, directed and edited the short dance film “SEEK/AFTER” – working with acclaimed cinematographer Annalise Ophelian.

Set in a dream-like rocky landscape, SEEK/AFTER is a short dance film featuring Sean Dorsey Dance (Sean Dorsey, Nol Simonse, Uli Torres-Bonilla, Will Woodward).

SEEK/AFTER is part of a series of dance films created for Sean Dorsey Dance’s THE LOST ART OF DREAMING – a multi-year project for stage and film that is an invitation to conjure and manifest joy, pleasure, freedom and wild dreaming about our Futures.

Dorsey says, “I am beyond thrilled to be awarded the TRANS-VIDEO FILMMAKER AWARD! This series of dance films was my first time directing and editing, and getting to work with cinematographer Annalise Ophelian was a dream. I am so grateful to the Louisiana LGBT+ Film Festival and my brilliant collaborating dancers.”

After premiering last year, SEEK/AFTER continues to screen at film festivals around the world.

“Stunning… These films are exquisite, intimate, and radiate with Dorsey’s gesture-rich choreography”
