Fresh Meat Festival 2020 showcases transgender & queer music, dance, performance

In previous years, the annual Fresh Meat Festival’s been sold out, so this year the 19th annual diverse shows of transgender and queer performance, music and dance offers a bonus; everyone gets a front row seat! Online, that is.

Streaming June 18-27, the 19th annual multi-disciplinary arts festival of transgender and queer performance offers five programs of dance, theater and live music. All programs will be viewable on Vimeo, and will be Closed Captioned for Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing audiences.

Five different #reFRESH programs feature performance highlights from our previous festivals, and bring a feast of gorgeous, groundbreaking, bold, beautiful artistry.

From vogue dancers to gender-bending boy bands, transgender opera, sizzling hip-hop, gay ballroom stars, queer bomba dance & music, wordsmith poets, disabled dance pioneers, to gravitydefying trapeze, more than 30 artists and ensembles are among the 2020 acts.

Artistic Director Sean Dorsey, the festival curator, and Artistic Director/Choreographer of Sean Dorsey Dance, said, “We’re incredibly excited: audiences have never before had access to our exquisite archive of past festival performances. This is an extraordinary opportunity to experience and re-experience these artists — a total of 31 artists and ensembles.”
